House in the woods

Tuesday 06 November 2012

With the warm weather today and the public holiday it felt like Christmas time is here already.  The rain is coming down outside now and we are all pottering about the house after spending the day with friends. Last week we made the Christmas pudding which let the Christmas spirit trickle in.

In the studio I am very busy working on final paintings for a book, developing a storyboard for a new character, and completing some cards for the US.

As a reward for working so hard yesterday I let myself spend an hour on these little wooden houses which are from BLANK. They are not quite finished yet, but happy so far with the progress. I would dearly love to do a Christmas card but we shall see if I can find some time amongst the other projects calling my name.

And just a few other things that made me feel happy this week.

A beautiful review of Peggy.

Tiger walk

Monday 22 October 2012

'Tiger Walk' is one of the things I have been working on lately. It will be one of the artworks auctioned off, at the Carnivale exhibition in coming weeks.  I was inspired by the sleepy tiger at the Dubbo Zoo sunning himself in between blackened trees. Sometimes it is hard to find time to create work for an exhibition, but they are a wonderful opportunity to explore paths less travelled.

Over the last week I have been drawing, painting, writing, visiting Finders Keepers- happily looking at the colourful trinkets and treasures, chatting to friends about ideas and making plans for the launch of 'Today We Have No Plans'!

Sweet Table

Monday 09 July 2012

If you think the idea of seeing pink elephants and umbrellas made into biscuits is delightful, have a look at Sweet Table (Melbourne)! Recently I created this simple little logo for the lovely Donna who makes these delicious treats, perfect for a party or even a book launch! Yes, Donna is creating a 'Peggy' biscuit for the launch of 'Peggy' on the 1st September at The Little Bookroom! I was going to keep it a secret but it is too exciting. I will try to keep what they are going to look like top secret  - or only show a peep at least!

Cheerio

Tuesday 26 June 2012

'Cheerio' is the latest studio favourite for a coffee. It is worth popping in - even if to get the cute sticker that they stick on your sandwich wrapper!

With three days now until the school holidays I am busy trying to finish some roughs, prepare some activity sheets for my new books, create some new prints and think of a new sewing project for the holidays!

I share a studio with talented, creative souls and among them is photographer Nick Rieve who along with James is part of an an exciting business creating film and music for all sorts of events. Nick is heading off to New York for a film adventure but kindly found time before he leaves to create a little video for me. I was nervous about the camera rolling, unlike 'Sunshine' my labrador who delighted in the attention. The whole thing was very exciting though and hopefully introduces you to my studio and my wooly friends. The gorgeous music is by the wondeful Oscar + Martin. It is worth finding their tunes!

A big thank you to Peter Green who provided the Super 8 footage of me when I was a little tacker and pretending to be a cat! And to view on Vimeo the link is here.
