Bubbly

Monday 15 November 2010

Well, the lucky cat gave us a rainy evening outside but a warm, gorgeous evening inside. There was dancing, drinking and merriment! The kids have had fun making crafty things from all the left over champagne corks and bottle tops. All very happy.

Happy day

A friend in Sydney sent me this delightful picture drawn by this clever little possum. It is her version of 'All Through the Year'. Thank you Lara and Mimi!

Forget me not

Tuesday 19 October 2010

Each year my mum, my sister in law and I, with all the kids make a Christmas cake in memory of Nanny. We wrap it in brown paper and newspaper, and place it in a tin, ready for unwrapping on Christmas Day. My Nanny loved pressing flowers, doing crosswords and being busy. There is something special about being able to pass on traditions through generations and enjoying that time together.

A bird in the hand

Monday 11 October 2010

I made this wooly chook a while ago but had not finished, so after being inspired at the Finders Keepers market I have finally given her some eyes. Spring has brought so many birds to our garden. There is a busy blackbird with three hungry babies in a nest above the drain pipe in our front garden. We love watching the noisy beaks bobbing up and down when the mama bird comes with a juicy worm.

Owl Babies

Sunday 10 October 2010

On sunny Saturday we went to see the wonderful Shaun Tan exhitition of the Lost Thing and delighted in the exquisite detail of Shaun's creations. We then traipsed over to the Finders Keepers Market, sooo many lovely things there! The little owls above could not be resisted. I wish I could have spent more time wandering around. . .but in our short visit we were fortunate enough to meet Victoria Mason and ooh and aaah over her gorgeous jewellery.
