Collins Street

Saturday 15 October 2011

Today I participated in a panel of illustrators and animators discussing avenues of illustration. The seminar was held by Illustrators Australia in Melbourne. The other speakers were very inspiring talking about e-books, apps, animation and ways of using technology as tools for creating. I hope in the near future to begin working on a small book trailer and learn how to animate my illustrations at the same time.

On the way to the seminar I popped into Hill of Content to finally see the big poster I worked on. I was delighted with the way it looks and spent some time poring over all the beautiful new children's books in The Hill of Content, such a special place.

Tomorrow

Friday 19 August 2011

Tomorrow I am going to Tim's Bookshop at 11.30am to say hello. I am bringing some colouring in sheets,  pencils and a simple craft activity. We might even do some drawing too!

State of Design

Tuesday 12 July 2011

Next week the State of Design Festival begins and I have created a Moving Story to be displayed in the window of the Hill of Content in Bourke Street Melbourne, along side other Moving Stories made by Vincent Agostino, Daniel Atkins, Lisa Coutts, Kim Fleming, Sam Harmer, Andrea Innocent, Sonia Kretschmar, Louise Kyriakou, Ben Sanders and Michael Weldon. If you have time pop into the city and have a look any time after Saturday.

The Surprise

Monday 13 June 2011

Lots of my family have recently returned from overseas. I miss them when they are away, so it is lovely to have them home. From the travels I was lucky to be given a small wooden duck and a bird brooch made of lego, (pictures on the way). The work above is from Sylvia Van Ommen's book The Surprise.

Sketching

Monday 06 June 2011

I have some lovely projects on at the moment. I wish I had more time in the day to work on them. It is hard sometimes to put my pencils down, although the thought of the children wondering where I am at school pick up makes it a simple decision!
