The Wattle Tree

Thursday 13 September 2012

If you are in Melbourne this weekend, you may like to traipse down to The Gardens Shop at the Botanical Gardens, Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra (opposite the Shrine of Remembrance). You can join John Bell and Ben Wood in celebrating the release of the their new book, The Wattle Tree! They have kindly asked me to say a few words too! I can't wait for the event and such a perfect setting.

'The Wattle Tree tells the story of a young girl coming to terms with the loss of her grandmother. She finds a tree in the bush near her house that seems imbued with her grandmother's spirit: as she visits it again and again she discovers that even those we have lost can have a continuing presence in our lives.'

Paper feathers

Monday 10 September 2012

The kids and I amused ourselves by making these paper Peggies. A fun activity for a rainy day and very easy!

And if you are in the Melbourne this week check out the window display at The Little Bookroom in the city.

Peggy away!

Sunday 02 September 2012

Well, what an exciting afternoon it was yesterday! 'Peggy' is now making her journey in the world of books and her launch was a great success! I was honoured that so many people came to say hello and join the fun. The children listened so carefully to the story and there was such a lovely atmosphere. A big thank you to Leesa Lambert from The Little Bookroom, and the wonderful staff who looked after everyone and a special thnaks to Angela for making sure we had lots of books!

Birdy num nums!

Thursday 30 August 2012

The studio is a flurry of activity at the moment in preparation for the launch of 'Peggy' at The Little Bookroom on Saturday 1st September at 4pm!

I am showing you a sneak peak of the beautiful biscuits Donna from Sweet Table has made especially for us! Sooo lucky!

I have also been working on a window display for The Little Book Room in the city. It needs to be arrange and hung from the ceiling. . . hopefully it will look fun! Will show you a pic next week.

It is all very exciting for a little chicken! Hope to see you on Saturday.  :)

Pittypat

Friday 24 August 2012

A friend recently sent me a picture of this flamboyant chicken who (originally from Perth) now lives in New York! Her name is 'Pittypat'. Peggy thinks Pittypat is her cousin. I think Peggy wants an excuse to visit New York! Either way she is beautiful and I thought you might like to see her finery too.

Can't wait for my 'feathered friend' workshop at Artplay on Sunday!
